WONDER WOMAN 1941. Wonder Woman is an Amazonian warrior named Princess Diana who was given super-human powers by the Gods of Mt. Olympus. Created by William Moulton Marston and Elizabeth Holloway Marston as a symbol of female liberation and unconventiality, Wonder Woman made her first appearance in All Star Comics #8, 1941. She is the first and most famous comic book female super-hero, a founding member of the Justice League of America and, in co-creator William Marston's words: "Wonder Woman is psychological propaganda for the new type of woman who should, I believe, rule the world." |
