DEAN MARTIN

1917-1995. Dino Paul Crocetti was born in Steubenville, Ohio. Dino worked in an illegal gambling establishment, and this led to his going on stage and beginning his singing career. 1946 brought Dean into contact with comedian Jerry Lewis, resulting in their becoming a team that took nightclubs, movies, radio and TV by a literal, hilarious storm. Ten years later and still going strong, Dean shocked Hollywood by breaking up the team and going it on his own. In 1958 he was cast, with Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift, in The Young Lions. He gave a great performance in Rio Bravo (1959), which also starred John Wayne and Angie Dickinson. In 1960 Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack was formed, and he and Dean and Sammy Davis Jr. starred in Ocean's Eleven. Dean had an immensely popular TV show starting in 1965, which morphed into the Dino celebrity roasts that aired until 1984.
